This week on [ building a streetwear // lifestyle clothing brand ] OBF is featured in a music video, OBF is featured in an online magazine, and we will talk about the pressure of society. Pretty much this week OBF received it’s close up. A few other things happened this week but we will stick to these 3 for the time being.
The first thing we must talk about is this music video we were featured in. I first met Myles Kushman while I was working my very first retail job. I would show him the freshest of garments, as well prepare his skateboard for the next set of tricks. A few years had past and I haven’t seen much of Myles until the past couple years. He started making music, and videos that are actually incredible. My good buddy Lawrence, who happens to be an amazing filmer and OBF advocate started to film for Myles. Tossed Lawrence some shirts to give to Myles and he ended up wearing both in the video. Myles as well offered to wear the shirts to his next show, where I will be selling some shirts as well.
BELOW IS THE VIDEO SLUT RAP BY MYLES KUSHMAN WHICH FEATURES THE OBF LOGO TSHIRT AS WELL AS OBFS THE LAST SUPPER TSHIRT
Next on the docket OBF is feature on GRUNGECAKE.COM
Thanks to the homies PAPERWATER my artwork was featured on this online magazine. They had an amazing article with them which featured some of the work I did for the duo. These dewds are really humble and make really great music. They reached out to me just from a simple tweet. I had tweeted something along the lines of “this is some groovy shit” and a few minutes later I received a reply that changed a lot.
BELOW YOU WILL FIND THE TWO PEICES OF ART I DID FOR PAPERWATER!
The last item on todays list the I wanted to communicate with you is the pressure I feel and you may feel society has on you.
Society tells you to grow up, go to school, and get a job that will pay the bills. It sucks because without doing those things there is a chance you may never be able to afford some of the things you WANT or what society tells you that you WANT. There is still a high chance you will not be able to afford those things you WANT. I just hate that they have brainwashed me into thinking that I WANT those materialistic items. An example of one of those things that I WANT is an Aston Martin. I went to school but was making more at a retail job than I would be working a entry level position in my field. I personally chose to be happy rather than slave away. I am still choosing to be happy by becoming an entrepreneur and following my dreams of creating a successful clothing brand. I only bring this stuff up because I ran into a buddy from grade school who said while we were in conversation “well we have to grow up sometime”, I thought to myself immediately and said NOPE!!!! I will continue to struggle and put tons of hard work, money, and time into my business until I feel it is successful. I will chase and build the life that I want, not a life someone told me to chase.
I hope everyone finds the courage to chase their dreams and do what they love because they love it, not the money.
Don’t wait for these weekly emails. Follow me on all that social network shit that we all love.
